UN agency defending press freedom deplores killing of Pakistani journalist

24 August 2011 – Hurricane Irene has unleashed heavy rains across northern Haiti, causing some flooding and agricultural damage, United Nations officials report, adding that over 160 evacuation sites have been opened in case of need and pre-positioned aid supplies mobilized. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), citing local officials, has no reports of major losses or damage from Irene.
